Today I want to do a thing, I don't know if it's already a thing but I want to make it a thing - to review, and talk about somebody else's blog. Have you all heard of Victoria Macgrath? Or as we know her - inthefrow? If you don't follow her on every social media platform, or watch her YouTube videos, it's really time you started. With purple hair and a PhD in fashion, she truly is a dream!
It's currently 8:22 PM, and I am sitting on my bed with my Lush face mask crumbling onto my keyboard..
Should probably go and wash that off actually. It's currently 8:25PM, and I am sitting on my bed with skin as smooth as petals. Happy Friday! Fridays are always good, especially after a lengthy week at school/college/work. So now I have a small post on my favourites 'lately'.. I can't say they are May favourites because it is June and I can't say they are June favourites because it is only the 5th, and to be perfectly honest I don't know how long they have been favourites for. So lets just say Friday Favourites because one thing I am sure of is that it's Friday. Ok..
Just for fun, I had such an urge to write one of these posts, plus I'm really loving the list trend! So many of the best bloggers are writing them lately, whether it be about things 90s kids will remember or things that always somehow end up in the bottom of our handbags such as twelve pennies and a receipt from 2012. So anyway, here goes, if you haven't had at least one of these thoughts when in Primark, you're doing it wrong.
1) It's so, fucking hot. This is exactly why I don't come in here. 2) That dress is so cute, *picks dress up* But every idiot will have it on in college next week. *puts said dress back* 3) Oh. My. God. That girl who thinks she's Instagram famous was wearing that at the weekend. I wondered why she didn't comment back when someone asked her where it was from. 4) Great. Yet another rip-off of yet another Topshop dress I wanted two months ago. Excellent news. 5) If that child doesn't stop screaming... 6) Where has my mum got off to? I'll ring her. Oh, no phone signal. 7) It's a bit crap in here today, and I am not queuing just for a pack of rings that will turn my fingers green anyway. *Walks out and instantly regrets not buying said rings* 8) Wait, so I'm about to be £100 down for a handful of t-shirts, a midi skirt and some Sesame Street knickers? Buy a bag of cherries at the till and don't let this be a completely wasted trip. 9) Is it honestly neccesary to use paper bags. Paper. It's raining outside, this white top isn't gunna be white for long. And there we have it. A typical day in Primark. instagram - @thatspeach twitter - @thatspeach Circa Waves are an indie-rock band from my hometown of Liverpool! Not usually a genre I would listen to, Circa Waves caught my attention with their hit singles Fossils and Stuck In My Teeth. I am not usually a fan of the indie genre because it is too poppy for me, and my love of music stands next to songs with a bit more of a gritty feel to them. However, Circa Waves have a healthy balance between the pop and the rock sound, which makes for a perfect 'happy' rock album with the most Summery vibes you will ever hear from a band.
They recently released their first album - Young Chasers. The whole album centres around the idea of coming of age and the youth of our lives. This is told through the lyrics, including lines such as 'I'm a little too young with not enough time', '17 went far too quick', and 'we are flying through our best years'. For fans of Catfish & The Bottlemen, Royal Blood and The 1975, if you haven't already blessed your ears with the catchy chorus' and riffs of Circa Waves, you are totally missing out. Dirty makeup brushes can be so annoying to apply makeup with sometimes, and not to mention that they can cause breakouts! If you think about it, you put them onto your face most days, they're bound to pick up germs when they are left for too long, and you wouldn't wash your face with a dirty flannel so you shouldn't put greasy makeup brushes onto your precious faces either!P It is recommended that they are washed every two weeks, so I am going to show how I clean my brushes affordably using things you probably already have lying around in your home!
I haven't blogged for like, three months! So happy to be typing this post, but I have been so so busy. This post is basically going to be a run down of what I have been up to since I last posted. Here goes!
In this post I am going to explain what I used to get the makeup look I wore at the weekend when I went to Death Row Diner (read more here). I am by no means a makeup artist or anything like that, but I just wanted to share my makeup look for a bit of a different kind of post!
I visited the coolest place on Sunday; a small bar and restaurant called Death Row Dive and Diner. It is made to look like death row, and it is certainly done well! The walls are all exposed bricks and spiderwebs, with metal fences dividing the bar area from the diner. Everything down to the cell style toilets and the 'No Regrets' section of the menu is clearly inspired by death row. The lighting in there was extremely dim and most of the light came from red bulb writing on the walls, so most of the pictures I got ended up having a yellowy/orange tint over the top! I am going to share my choice of outfit and of course a couple of pictures from the diner!
I would love to be one of those people who are blessed with flawless skin, but that's not the case! I have never had 'bad' skin as such, but it goes through many phases where it's not particulary 'good' either. When I was in high school, mainly when I was about 13/14, I used to suffer with lots of small spots on my chin and forehead. Over the past couple of years it has calmed down a lot, and I suffer mainly with blackheads and pimples under the surface, and redness (which can luckily be covered with makeup!). But like I said, it still goes through phases where I just have breakouts! Over the years I have tried a million and one different brands and types of face washes/scrubs/creams.. But the only that I have found never fails me is Dermalogica.
